The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Tennessee is seeking qualified candidates for the Bethany Hills Camp Manager position. This is a full-time, on-site, year-round position.
Bethany Hills is a vibrant summer camp and retreat center nestled on 365 acres in the woods of Middle Tennessee. The desire of the Christian Church in Tennessee is to amplify each church’s call to be formed by Jesus’ Love by connecting the region, church to church, into an extended open table where everyone knows they can receive the unmistakable grace of God. We are looking for someone to share in our mission, and serve as a witness to God’s hospitality by being a host at our open table and the Holy Grounds Keeper of our sacred space.
As a member of the regional staff, the camp manager will report directly to the regional minister, and be a vital member of a faith-based team charged with long term visioning and growth for Bethany Hills. The position will require excellent communication skills, both within the Disciples community and to outside groups. Candidates should be comfortable networking within the camping community, and have an interest in best practices for faith based camps and retreat centers. The position requires someone who is detail oriented and enjoys creative thinking and strategic planning.
The responsibilities of this role include managing the camp schedule and keeping the grounds and facilities, including all buildings and amenities in good working all order. Additionally, the camp manager is responsible for facilitating needed upgrades and ensuring compliance with ACA policies. We seek an energetic and positive manager who can hire and supervise seasonal staff, including lifeguards, cooks, and grounds crews. Candidates should also be comfortable managing youth workers, volunteers, and church groups. The camp manager position requires interfacing with a large and diverse group of people, so great customer service skills and a warm and welcoming attitude are necessary.
Every year, Bethany Hills camping program lays the spiritual foundation for hundreds of young people. As such, the camp manager must be an example to our youth of a servant of Jesus Christ. Micah 6:8 calls us to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly, and our camp manager should live into those words day to day.
This position is full-time, year-round and includes housing on-site in the camp manager’s residence at Bethany Hills. The camp manager position is a salaried role and eligible for benefits through the Christian Church in Tennessee.
